Nitrate Leaching in Maize (Zea mays L.) and Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Irrigated Cropping Systems under Nitrification Inhibitor and/or Intercropping Effects

چکیده

The use of nitrogen fertilizers in agriculture is currently under high pressure to reduce its environmental impact and improve low efficiency. Nitrification inhibitors and/or intercrops emerged recent decades as useful tools combat these problems. objective the experiment study effect techniques on yield, efficiency (NUE) N leaching a maize–wheat rotation. Six treatments were studied, combining ammonium nitrate sulfate (ASN) alone or with nitrification inhibitor (DMPSA 3,4-dimethylpyrazole succinic acid) absence vetch (Vicia sativa L.) an intercrop. results showed that fertilized did not show significant differences crop development, but DMPSA delayed (NO3?) availability reduced losses (average reductions around 25% after maize harvest). On other hand, intercrop helped negative effects deficiency and, at same time, increased concentration soil during following harvest (4.5 kg ha?1 average wheat harvest) due 14% season). combination both intercrop) time presented synergic greatly improved irrigated system.

Allelopathic Effects of Aqueous Extracts of Sunflower on Wheat (triticum Aestivum L.) and Maize (zea Mays L.)

Sunflower is a potent allelopathic plant which possesses important allelochemicals with known allelopathic activity on other plants. In this study, allelopathic effects of fresh aqueous extracts (FAE) and air dried aqueous extracts (DAE) of root, shoot and leaves of sunflower (Halianthus annuus L.) were investigated on germination and seedling growth of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and maize (Z...

Responses of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and maize (Zea mays L.) plants to cadmium toxicity in relation to magnesium nutrition

The infl uence of cadmium (Cd) on physiological processes in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and maize (Zea mays L.) plants exposed to either optimal mineral nutrition or the absence of magnesium (Mg) as well as the accumulation of cadmium and magnesium in plant organs were studied using the method of water culture in a greenhouse. Cd treatment reduced shoot fresh mass more strongly in Mg-supplied...

Allelopathic Assessment of Genetically Modified and Non Modified Maize (zea Mays L.) on Physiology of Wheat (triticum Aestivum L.)

The aim of this work was to study the allelopathic effect of 3 extracts viz 3%,5% and 10% prepared from leaves of GM (insect resistance) and non GM maize on physiology of succeeding crop wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The extracts prepared from GM maize significantly decreased chlorophyll a content but significantly increased chlorophyll b content as compared with untreated control. Content of c...

Maize (Zea mays L.).

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
